Cocktail recipe: Mandarin Sting at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Wake up your palate with this zesty cocktail

Summer isn’t over yet, but with fall just around the corner, it’s now as important as ever to eke out some precious patio time. The Mallard Lounge and Terrace at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a great spot for sipping signature cocktails while basking in a gorgeous view. And on the hotel’s ultra popular Fairmont Fridays*, you can enjoy your cocktail—or a pint of beer or glass of wine—for just $5.

When we asked Mallard bartender Lisa Marie Gregoris to make us one of the lounge’s signature summer cocktails, she offered up the Mandarin Sting. A tangy, refreshing drink with a kick, this “Whistler Original” brings an intriguing balance of citrus and spice. Delicious.

Mandarin Sting

Small slice of serrano pepper

1 ½ oz Absolut Mandarin Vodka

½ oz simple syrup

¾ oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

½ oz orange juice

½ oz cranberry juice

Put serrano pepper in a shaker and muddle gently. Add vodka, simple syrup, lemon juice, orange juice, cranberry juice and ice. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass half-rimmed with sugar.
